THE ROOT OF OBEDIENCE AND DISOBEDIENCE
OBEDIENCE
Obedience is from GOD John 10:27 “My sheep
hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me” (KJV) and
all those that obey have something in common they know
JESUS CHRIST and the person of JESUS. One who truly knows JESUS
CHRIST is compelled to obey JESUS CHRIST and obeying JESUS CHRIST is following
JESUS CHRIST and following JESUS turns you to Jesus on earth (being renewed in
the image of JESUS CHRIST), the reason being 2nd Corinthians 3:18 “But we
all with our face having been
unveiled, having beheld the glory of the
Lord in a mirror, are being changed into
the same image from glory to glory, as from the Lord Spirit” (LITV).
The first obedience
is first of all that of the faith as in Romans 1:5 “…for obedience to the faith among
all nations, for his name” (KJV)
Obedience to the faith here is making JESUS the author and
finisher of our faith Hebrews 12:2 and accepting His finished work as in John 17:4
“I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished
the work which thou gavest me to do”
Obedience to the faith is not a final process but just the
beginning of knowing GOD personally, what a great privilege and this is true
Christianity as in John 17:3 “And this is everlasting life, that they may know
You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent.” (LITV)
And as we all know that everlasting life is the reason for
JESUS’S coming as in John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his
only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have
everlasting life.”
So the root of Obedience is knowing GOD intimately which is
the conscious effort after the obedience to the faith.
SO DEAR CHRISTIAN WORK SO EARNESTLY TO KNOW GOD INTIMATELY
THROUGH YOUR KNOWLEDGE OF GOD WHICH IS GOTTEN IN THE PLACE OF STUDY OF THE WORD
OF GOD 2Timothy 2:15.
DISOBEDIENCE
Disobedience of the devil and has it’s root to him the
thieve as in John 10:10 (check on my blogpost HE has not left us ignorant to
die part 1).
How does he deceive the children of GOD to disobedience one
major way is through the scriptures?
The next question I suppose is how is this so?
Let’s look at this with examples from the scriptures
THE FIRST ADAM
After the first creation and everything being so good in
GOD’S sight Gen 1:31 HE gave man an instruction in Gen 2:16-17 “And the LORD God commanded the man, saying,
Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the
knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou
eatest thereof thou shalt surely die” (KJV)
When the thieve came to deceive man in the garden of Eden
this was the conversation he had with man (Eve) Gen 3:1-6
“And he (the thieve) said unto the woman, Yea, hath God
said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? And the woman said unto the
serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit
of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall
not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. And the serpent said
unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die. For God doth know that in the day ye
eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing
good and evil. And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food,
and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one
wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband
with her; and he did eat.”
From the passage above we realise that Eve could recite the
scriptures what GOD spoke to her but she did not know why it was so she did not
know the intention of the instruction (that was the depth she missed out) so we
can conclude that without the depth of the WORD/INSTRUCTION of GOD you remain
shallow and the shallow Christian falls prey of the deception of the evil one.
That was given and that was where she fell, and this was the hedge that the
enemy used to strike. Another question arises:
HOW COULD SHE HAVE
KNOWN THE DEPTH OF THE INTENTIONS OF GOD FOR HER AND HER HUSBAND?
The answer is on the surface of the waters and it is through
her fellowship with GOD which is as a result of her love for GOD as in John
14:21 “He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth
me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and
will manifest myself to him” (KJV)
The new question now becomes this: Did she love GOD?
The answer is no from the scriptures John 14:15. Secondly if
she loved GOD she would have been longing out for GOD or having a wonderful
fellowship with GOD but instead she was found doing nothing the hedge was
broken. Then another prove to this is that when GOD came down she would have
fallen to her knees to ask for forgiveness rather she put the blame on the
serpent Genesis 3:13.
This lands us to our new conclusion that it is only a heart
of love for GOD that would drive us to knowing the person of GOD and this is
eternal life John 17:3.
THE SECOND ADAM
After Jesus finished fasting in the wilderness He was
obviously hungry like every other person would be and the devil appeared with
these scriptures Mat 4:5-6 “ Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city,
and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, And saith unto him, If thou be the
Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels
charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest
at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.” (KJV)
But Jesus equally replied with the scriptures saying Matthew
4:7 “It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.” (KJV)
Jesus understood why the words were given HE
understood not just the scriptures but saw the reason why it was given and knew
how well to apply HIM (the scriptures). And this was the difference between the
first and second Adam, Jesus knew indepthedly the scriptures and the mind of
the Father to the application and this was the reason HE overcame.
Yes you would overcome when you know indepthedly what GOD is
saying in HIS WORD, the reason for HIS WORD
