WHAT ARE WE TO OBEY

The question that arises next is what are we to obey?
We are to obey the commandments of God from the very words of Jesus in the book of John14:15 "If ye love me, keep my commandments." (KJV)
Then this same question comes up
What are His commandments? In the book of Mark 12:29-30 "And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is,Hear, O Isreal; The Lord our God is one Lord. And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul and with all thy mind and with all thy strength: This is the first commandment" (KJV)
From verse 29 Jesus said the Lord thy God is one Lord what does this have to do with Loving the Lord?
This is because God is one with His word and His word never changes. What was the Word Jesus was emphasising on?
This was the Word spoken to the Israelites in the book of Deuteronomy 6:4-5
"Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might." (KJV)
This was what Jesus was talking about looking at the next verse, verse 6 it gives us great light
"And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:" (Deut.6.6)
(K JV)
This command was going to be in their hearts making it a lifestyle for them but they had the responsibility of teaching their children and making it a life habit for them to inculcate the culture of Love for the Father. This was not just all, having this commandment in their hearts makes them to keep all the other words of God to them and this was the secret of David because Love has always and would always be the greatest 1Corinthians 13:13. His heart for God put him on the right track to keep the words of God Psalm 119:98 and this set him up for the massive blessings of God for him 2 Sam 7:13 his kingdom was established forever
Falling back to the very Words of Jesus the aftermath of keeping His commandment was the Spirit of truth that would be our comforter, advocate an ever present help He did not just stop at that,He said also that Himself and the Father would love the person and He would by himself (through the Holy Ghost) manifest Himself to the person.
So it all begins with Loving the Father, and He has given us this capacity to do so in accordance to Deuteronomy 6:6.
